Ginger as Mary Poppins with Jane (Grace Regan), Michael (Megan Bunkley), and Bert (Roahmin Murphy)
Recently, Ginger Willis starred as Mary Poppins in the Smyrna Village Players production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s "Mary Poppins, The Broadway Musical." SPS and other industry friends came out to support her. Mary Poppins was one of Ginger's favorite childhood movies, so to star in the musical on stage was a thrill!
When asked about her experience, Ginger said, "Playing Mary Poppins was the experience of a lifetime! This was my first time ever performing as a solo singer. It was one of those funny insecurity things. I always thought to myself that I was a good singer, but never pursued it. All it took was one person (or group of people) believing in me for me to finally believe in myself. I believe we all need people and moments like that. It’s why encouraging the creative or unique efforts and passions of our loved-ones, family, friends and co-workers is so very important. Your encouragement and belief may be all they need to soar to new heights and become a more authentic version of themselves."
What was Ginger's favorite line from the musical? “Go on! Chase your dreams; you won’t regret it! Anything can happen if you let it.”
Ginger also claimed, "I don’t think I’ll ever forget how to spell Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and how to say it backwards!!"
Way to go, Ginger!
