Sims Patrick Studio recently took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to benefit the MDA Night of Hope, an event that has raised over $4.4 million to fund critical research for ALS. Click here to see the video of our Challenge! Sims Patrick's CEO, Libby Patrick, who lost her brother to ALS in 2007, was nominated by her son Alex Patrick. The rest of the staff jumped at the opportunity to participate with her. Twelve of the SPS employees rallied together to film the experience.
Sims Patrick Studio chose three other design/architecture firms to be challenged, and one fellow employee who could not be present for the filming (Megan Hagood). Fellow NEWH Top ID Firms Blackdog Studio and CMMI were challenged, along with designONE studio - all three firms are based in Atlanta.
A cause close to home, Libby's biggest philanthropic passion is finding a cure for ALS. Her brother, Bill, died from this horrific disease in 2007 and she promised him that she would do everything she could to help raise awareness and money to find a cure. Libby was the Chairman in 2008 and has been on the Executive Committee for the MDA Night of Hope Gala for seven years. Sims Patrick Studio is a sponsor for this event annually. Libby also chairs the Sims Family Foundation for ALS Research, which has donated over $300,000 to ALS research projects with ALSA, Emory and MDA.
This year's MDA Night of Hope Gala will be held on Friday, October 17. To find out more information and/or donate, please visit: http://www.mdanightofhope.org/
