Nestled in the heart of the downtown Market District, this historic building built in 1883 in Louisville, Kentucky will be the home of a new 50 key landmark destination hotel inspired by the significant happenings of the year. The Industrial and Mercantile Southern Exposition was held in Louisville during this time and it showcased the innovations of this Renaissance Period in America at the height of the Industrial Age. This was a time of major change and innovation as illustrated by Thomas Edison’s revolutionary five-thousand light bulb installation which illuminated the Expo at night. Exhibits of agricultural machinery, technical innovations, livestock, local produce and horticultural gardens were featured. The event offered local food and drink vendors, live music, a large International artwork collection and dazzling entertainment. The venues of the exposition and the innovations of this exciting time in America’s history will be woven together to create an inspirational story throughout the hotel’s interior.
